Christ at the Centre
At Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Primary School, Christ is at the centre of all that we do. Our mission is to ensure that every child encounters Christ, grows in faith, and lives out Gospel values in their daily lives. By placing Christ at the heart of teaching, learning, and community life, we aim to nurture the fullness of Christian life—harmonising faith, culture, and life so that children develop spiritually, morally, and personally. This approach allows our pupils to grow strong in values, motivation, aspirations, and moral understanding, reflecting Pope Benedict XVI’s description of Catholic schools as “an essential resource for the new evangelisation.”
In accordance with the principles of Christ at the Centre (2012), our school supports parents in their vital role as the primary educators of their children. We work in partnership with families to ensure that religious formation and academic learning go hand in hand, providing guidance, encouragement, and opportunities for children to live out their faith both at home and in school.
Our close relationship with the local parish and the wider Church forms the secure foundation for our mission. By fostering communion with the local Church, we ensure that our school community reflects authentic Catholic teaching, serving as a beacon of faith and a place of spiritual formation for pupils, families and staff alike.
Finally, our school contributes to the common good by preparing children to be thoughtful, skilled, and compassionate members of society. Through education that integrates faith, academic excellence, and moral development, pupils are equipped to make a positive difference in the world, guided by Christ’s teaching and inspired to serve others.
Through this vision, Our Lady of Walsingham seeks to develop the whole child—head, heart, and hands—so that every member of our school community can encounter Christ, live in His love, and respond to His call in everyday life.
